Heroes

Hi Everyone just a quick update on what Heroes has been up to over the last coming months.

Heroes Flexi School

Tuesdays

Heroes Started its Flexi School in January with one day which was Tuesday and it has been extremely successful.  We have 18 children who attend on a regular basis and the ages mainly range from 10 years – 13 years with a few children either side. The day is very structured but still plenty of day for play and chat.

The day consists of an animal care course in the morning.  Each week a different animal is bought in and the children learn about the care for that animal, living conditions, diet, exercise, grooming. So far they have looked at snakes, ducks, dogs, cats, dogs, guinea pigs and rabbits.

After the animal care session the children get ready for hip hop dancing with Natalie

our tutor who is bouncy, bubbly and just loves dancing.

Cooking is available for children who do not want to do the dance, and they get involved in cooking the meal for everyone which is normally a soup and homemade bread.  Lunch is always taken together at one big table where they all take time out to chat.

After lunch, Pam Hobbs joins us to run her art session, and this can be anything from drawing with charcoal, painting with oils to making cards, tile painting, & mosaics

The day is finished off with a children’s video about a famous person or inventor.  The videos are bright colourful and very enjoyable. They last for around 30 mins.

Heroes flexi school has been a great success offering many home ed families a little structure to their week and time out to spend with their younger children or just time out for themselves. We are now opening up on other days. If you would like to know more please contact us.

Cost £35.00 per day

Heroes Big Home Ed Meet

This group meets every Wednesday and we have children of all ages from very small to 17 years.  It is a mixture of unstructured and structured.  We have cooking, drama, animal farm, brain teasers, plus a craft for the mums.  We have around 25 families on our membership and around 35 children. We hope to be able to offer swimming from May onwards.

Cost £10.00 per family please note parents must stay on site with their children

Hi Everyone

Just a quick update on what has being happening at Heroes over the last few weeks.

Heroes Flexi School Started at the beginning on January 2010 and is very successfully.  At the moment we only run on a Tuesday from 10.30 - 4.00 but have 15 young people attending from the ages of 9 years - 13 years, so far we have run workshops on small animal care, hiphop street dance, art and history. We are looking at starting up a second day shortly.

Wednesday is still proving very popular for the Big home Ed meet, we have around 19 familes who attend on a regular basis.  Lots of parents have got together and organised workshops and even workshops for parents have been going on, e.g. singing, dancing, its a fun day and we are looking forward to meeting with more people.  Its a day where parents can get together and have fun as well and the youngsters, where they can chat together and talk about interests and arrange activities together.

Thursdays we run a whole day based on animal care programme and work presently with a small group of teenager boys. This also has proved very popular and we are looking at extending this and being able to offer an OCN Accredation in working with small animals.
